Gobi is built around agents — yours, your spaces’, and any you connect. The rule that governs all of them is the same one, and it’s worth stating before the inventory: an agent can only draw on what its owner could already open. Agents inherit the boundaries you’ve read about across these docs; no agent crosses one, and no prompt, question, or clever phrasing makes it.

Your personal agent

Your personal agent works from your Home — your captures, Summaries, transcripts, notes, and attachments. That’s the whole point of it: one agent that has actually read your conversations, answering only to you. What it does with that access is bounded the same way your Home is: asking your personal agent questions exposes nothing to anyone. It doesn’t report to spaces, doesn’t feed other members’ agents, and doesn’t share what it knows with anything you haven’t connected yourself.

Space agents

A space agent knows what its space was given — shared captures and the posts around them — and answers each member only from the rooms they’re in. The full boundary, assembled:
  • Members’ Homes don’t exist to it. It sees what was deliberately shared, never what wasn’t — and a shared capture brings its Summary only.
  • It won’t show you rooms you’re not in. Its answers to you come from your channels. No question is phrased well enough to change that.
  • Private channels and DMs stay out of its memory. The smaller the room, the stronger the rule.
  • Admins shape its voice, not its reach. A space agent can be named and given standing instructions — and no instruction extends what it can see.
Your personal agent and your spaces’ agents don’t compare notes. Each answers from its own side of the line.

Agents you connect

The third kind is the one you bring: connect an agent of your own — a CLI, an assistant, a tool — and it works from your Gobi data with you. Two properties keep this in your hands:
  • You grant the access. A connection starts with a token you generate, single-use and expiring within 24 hours if unused — nothing connects to your Gobi without you having issued its way in.
  • It acts as you, for you. A connected agent reaches your data, on your behalf — connecting one publishes nothing and grants nothing to anyone else.

What no agent sees

The short version of this page: nothing in Gobi gives any agent — yours, a space’s, or a connected one — a view that its owner doesn’t have. Your Home has exactly one reader with a pulse, and every agent in the system respects the same walls you do.
