# Export or delete

> Your data is yours to keep, move, or destroy. All three work.

Everything Gobi holds for you, you can take with you or take
away. Neither is a support ticket into the void or a dark
pattern maze — both are rights, and this page is how they
work.

## Export your data

From **Account setup**, export everything in your Home: your
captures with their audio, transcripts, Summaries, notes,
and attachments. The export arrives in standard, portable
formats — text you can read anywhere, files as they were,
audio you can play in anything. No proprietary blob, no viewer
required: an export is your data in shapes that outlive Gobi.

Export is also the answer to a quieter question — *what does
Gobi actually have?* The archive is the inventory, complete.

## What about spaces?

You export **your** data — your Home. A space's contents
belong to its members collectively, so exporting a space
isn't a thing anyone can do, including admins.

You lose nothing by this: every capture you ever shared into
a space is your capture, and its original — with the full
transcript, notes, and attachments the space never saw — is
already in your export. What you don't get is other people's
data, which is the point.

## Delete a capture

Delete any capture from your Home, and everything goes with
it — Summary, transcript, notes, attachments, and the
audio itself. Deleting is as complete as capturing.

One honest edge: if you'd
[shared the capture into a space](/spaces/share-a-capture),
the post stays in the room. Sharing gave the space its copy
of the Summary, and what a room was given is part of that
room's history — deleting your original doesn't reach into
conversations other people are part of.

## Delete your account

The whole right, exercised at once: deleting your account
removes your Home and everything in it. Not deactivated, not
archived against your return — removed. Export first if you
want the archive; deletion doesn't wait around.

The same edge applies, and you should know it before you
choose: **posts you shared into spaces remain there.** What
you gave a room stays part of the room's conversation, even
after your account is gone — your Home was always yours
alone, and what you shared was always a gift to the room.
Deletion removes everything that was still yours to remove.
