# Person profiles

> What a directory profile holds and how Gobi uses it.

Every person in the directory has a profile. Open it to see who they are and everything you've captured with them.

## Two views

A profile opens on **`Profile`**, the fields you fill in. **`Timeline`** is the other tab, where the same person is ordered by when you talked.

</Frame>

## Profile fields

A profile holds a photo, name, email, company, and job title. Fill in what you know; none of it is required beyond the name.

There's also a free-text **Notes** field. What you write there isn't just for you: Gobi reads it as context when it writes about this person. A line like "prefers async, deciding on the Q3 renewal" shapes the summaries and answers you get about them later.

## Linked notes

**Linked notes** is every capture this person's voice appears in, each one openable from here. A `Maybe:` suggestion lands here once you confirm it, and so does a stray [unassigned voice](/notes/attendees) when you link it.

<Warning>
  **PENDING.** What the `N links` count on a directory card measures is unverified, and this page has claimed both answers at different times. Neither is safe to state yet.

  **What the V1 Figma shows.** `Unique voiceprint · 1 link found` opens to exactly one linked note, which reads as a note count. But `Maybe: Tamara Brown · 2 links found` opens to one linked note, which reads as a voiceprint count. The mock contradicts itself, so the design can't settle it.

  **Mika:** does `7 links` count the notes this person appears in, or the voiceprints matched to them? Easiest check is one person in a real build: compare the number on their card with the number of entries under Linked notes.
</Warning>

## Deleting a profile

**Danger zone → Delete profile** removes the person. The notes they appear in stay where they are.

<Note>
  Profiles used to live in the space the conversations were captured in. Under the personal-core model they live in your Home, with your notes and your devices. See [where your captures go](/privacy/your-captures).
