# AI notetaker

> Capture an in-person conversation and let Gobi turn it into a note.

The AI notetaker is how you capture a conversation. One tap to start, and Gobi handles the rest when you're done.

## Start a capture

Tap the `+` button and choose `AI notetaker`. Recording starts immediately. There is no setup screen between you and the conversation, because the conversation usually starts before you're ready.

## While you're recording

* **Side notes.** Type anything into the note while recording: a reminder, a number someone mentioned, a follow-up you don't want to lose. Your side notes are kept with the generated note.
* **Add media.** Attach a photo or a file mid-capture, from `Take photo`, `From photo library`, or `Add files`. Useful for a badge, a whiteboard, or a business card.
* **Pause.** Pause and resume the recording without ending the capture.
* **Minimize.** Shrink the notetaker and keep using the app. The capture keeps running until you end it.

## Titles

You can name the note during capture, or skip it. Untitled captures show as `New note` until processing finishes, and then Gobi names the note from what was said.

## Ending a capture

Tap end, and Gobi starts processing: transcription, speaker separation, then the summary. You'll see `Processing your note` until it's ready. A 10-minute chat is quick; a 2-hour meeting takes longer.

If you started a capture by mistake, choose `Discard note` from the options menu instead of ending it. A discarded capture doesn't create a note.

<Note>
  Processed notes land in **Notes** in your Home. See [where your captures go](/privacy/your-captures) for who can see what.
